Why the New England Guitar Workshop?
Experience-
Our teachers are currently or have been
on the faculty of some of the best music schools in the country
including the Berklee College of Music in Boston, the University
of California at Berkeley, the BlueBear School of American Music
in San Francisco California, the San Francisco Community Music Center
and the Cambridge Center for Adult Education in Cambridge Massachusetts.
Location-
The NEGW is located on the Campus of Salem State College in Salem
Massachusetts about 20 miles north of Boston. The classes are in
the brand new state of the art facilities of the Enterprise Center.
The Center is home to many creative companies including acting schools,
graphic design studios and fine artists. There is always plenty
of parking as well as restaurants and cafes nearby.
Curriculum-
The lessons, and seminars
at the New England Guitar Workshop are designed to be fun and dynamic.
Each lesson is tailored to the students unique needs while
keeping in mind the ultimate goal of helping the student become
a better guitarist and musician
State
of the art teaching technology-
In addition to handouts and audio CDs distributed in lessons and
classes, the Internet is used as a tool to facilitate learning.
Students have access to mp3 downloads of audio examples presented
in lessons and classes. PDF files of lesson sheet music developed
by the instructors are often available. In addition, each lesson
and class is video taped for the student to take home. That way
they can review the lesson at their leisure.

TESTIMONIAL
"I've been energized ever since I decided to give the New
England Guitar Workshop a try. They listen to my goals, help
me make realistic plans, and then are proactive about designing
lessons that are challenging, efficient and flexible - in
an atmosphere that's been supportive and enjoyable - customized
to the demands of an adult student like me, who has little
free time and has historically been a self-learner. Their
use of technology adds to the efficiency - I've even been
able to watch past lessons on my laptop and also to listen
to lessons on my mp3 player while traveling. They consistently
expand my musical knowledge - in theory, guitar playing, arranging
and songwriting - and I've been able to make practical use
what I've learned in my own songwriting and playing. It's
inspirational to spend time with a top notch pro guitarist
who is not only passionate about music, but who is also passionate
about sharing his knowledge of music with others - and in
a way that's geared to my learning style."

What does "intermediate" and "Advanced" mean?
.
Intermediate: you can play along with your favorite songs and CDs, you know the basic chords and have a good sense of time.
Advanced: you play in bands, have experience in the different styles of guitar playing, know about music theory but really want to apply what they know to their guitar playing, have a solid technique
